Ireland: should you fix your energy tariff?
How fixed and variable tariffs actually work in Ireland’s market — compiled August 2026.
CRU-regulated suppliers publish both standard (variable) and fixed-rate discounted tariffs, with fixed deals typically running 12 months. From 1 June 2026, Ireland is moving toward mandatory dynamic (30-minute) pricing availability from all major suppliers, which will sit alongside — not replace — today’s fixed and standard variable options, giving an extra choice for households with smart meters and flexible usage patterns.
