CRU: switching can save €300–€400/year, more for active switchers
Ireland’s energy regulator estimates the average customer can save €300–€400/year by switching supplier or renegotiating — and CRU’s own multi-year data shows active switchers saving €385 (gas) / €663 (electricity) / €1,261 (dual fuel) over 2 years. Despite this, switching rates remain under 20% of customers per year, though they’re rising fast: July 2024 saw switching up 51% (electricity) and 32% (gas) year-on-year.
